Tenerife So Far

Well today hasn't been the most successful as James scalded his thumb and we developed a water feature in the bathroom. James thumb still throbbing but water feature dealt with. I broke my toe yesterday; james tried to tell me it wasn't broken as he could bend it; to which I pointed out that I hadn't been able to bend it at all for at least 3 years since I last broke it. Hopfully it sets straighter this time.
We have been to Mt Teide this week and couldn't help but to admire the beauty of nature. We took a picnic, it is nice not to end up eating a picnic in the car or huddled up. We also went to a beautiful beach; where James managed to aquire a Spanish child eager to help him build sandcastles. The kids and I watched quite bemused because of the language barrier they made Mt Teide, still never worked out where his parents were. We then went to a Tapas Bar in Adeje.
We are now officially residents but everything over here requires so much paperwork, tomorrow going to collect translated birth certificates which will allow empadriation which in turn allows us to register the kids at school. I just know it won't be that simple!

Well better go as we are trying to get the kids back into a pattern.

Tenerife so far

Can't believe we have been here 10 days now, time is just flying. I have spent the day painting, tomorrow will probably be the same. Our first spanish lesson is Monday and we go and fficially become residents on Tuesday, hoe exciting. Ethan is debating going to Spanish School, so he can pick up Spanish quickly and have local friends. Over here he would be in top Primary so he would study in the same school as Natalia; Secondary only has 4 years. Took me a while to get my head round it but fair play if that's what he wants to do; it will save us a small fortune. He would eventually do the Bacalarite which is a universal qualification. I really never expected him to embrace the life here the way he has.

Over the past week we have been to the beach a couple of times and a friends pool, I have met my future employers which went well. There are silly things like marmite and a food processor I miss from England. We are still waiting for our shipping as well. Yet there are many things great about over here such as being able to sit outside most evneings and the fruit and veg has a fuller taste. I certainly don't miss driving, I think it would be traumatic driving through Los Cris but we can walk where we need to go and have a trend wheelly bag for shopping.
